Embracing New Beginnings While Honoring the Past
Spring is a Season of Renewal—But What About Grief?
As the world wakes up from winter, we see signs of new beginnings all around us—flowers blooming, birds returning, and warmer days reminding us that life moves forward. But for those of us grieving, the change of seasons can feel bittersweet. The world is moving on, yet we might feel stuck in our loss.
Spring is often associated with hope and renewal, but what if you’re not ready to embrace that renewal yet? What if moving forward feels like leaving your loved one behind?
At Together at Peace, we believe in a different approach: new beginnings and grief can coexist. We can welcome growth and change while still honoring the past and the people we miss.
How to Embrace New Beginnings While Honoring the Past
Create a New Tradition in Their Memory
Plant a tree or flowers in honor of your loved one, watching it grow each year as a living memory.
Light a candle each morning and read a devotion or meditate in their honor as you begin the day.
Write a ‘Letter to Spring’
Take a moment to journal about your emotions as the seasons change.
Reflect on how your grief has evolved over time.
Write down one thing you’d like to invite into your life this season (peace, clarity, connection).
Find Comfort in Small Signs of Love
Butterflies, cardinals, or rainbows—many of us feel signs from those we’ve lost in nature.
Take a mindful walk and notice any moments of connection that bring you comfort.
Join a Supportive Community
Surround yourself with others who understand the balance of grief and renewal.

Healing Takes Root in the Smallest of Ways
If you’re not ready for big changes, start small. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means learning to carry our loved ones forward with us. New beginnings don’t erase old love; they honor it.
